Second Missionary Baptist has been “home” to many generations of families. Restoration of the old sanctuary ensures that we can continue to provide a place for our members to fellowship, provide aide to the many homeless and hungry in our community, continue to instill biblical values and guidance to our children, youth, and college age ministries, and provide continuing education services to our members to promote spiritual growth. The Historic Preservation Ministry is working to restore and preserve our "home."
The Historic Preservation Ministry applied for and was approved for a small matching grant from the Bureau of Historic Preservation Grant Program in 2015. the first phase of the preservation of the old sanctuary will involve the restoration of stained glass windows on the side of the building that runs adjacent to I-95.
